Getting to Barcelona from Girona Airport

Girona Airport is an important airport at Costa Brava coast, 92 km North East of Barcelona (airport code GRO). The budget airlines like RyanAir use this airport for their flights though usually mention Barcelona in their descriptions of Girona airport.
There are 3 main ways of getting to Barcelona from Girona airport, though bus is probably the most convenient one.
The bus service is supplied by an independent company ¨Ragalés¨ and officially it has nothing to do with RyanAir. However, Barcelona Bus arranges its departures the way that they coincide with the arrivals and departures of Ryan Air flights. Thus, the first bus departs Girona airport at 8.30 A.M. and the last one at 00.15 A.M.
However, note that the service is not available on the 25 of December, and the dates 24th, 26th and 31st of December and 1st of January it is better to check the timetable as there could be some changes.
You can check flights and bus timetables at the oficial site of Barcelona Bus company at http://www.barcelonabus.com/
The bus stops right outside the airport terminal and upon arrival to Barcelona leaves you at Estacio del Nord (Barcelona’s main bus terminal) which is communicated with the city metro system. The nearest metro station is Arc de Triomf (Red Line L1) which is only 2 metro stops from the city centre Plaza Cataluña.
You can buy tickets upon arrival at the ticket counter, which is right next to the baggage claim area. One way ticket Girona - BCN will cost 12 euros, return ticket 21 euros with 30 days validity. The journey time is about 65 - 75 min. depending on traffic.
There is no train station in the airport of Girona, though there is one in Girona city, therefore you will need to catch either Girona airport bus or Girona airport Taxi to get there (in the centre of Girona city), if your intention is to come to Barcelona by train.
Taking a taxi from Girona airport to Barcelona centre is an expensive option and will cost you around 120 Euros for a one way trip. You can find taxis right outside the airport terminal.
I personally recommend a bus option for everyone who arrives to Girona airport and wants to get to Barcelona, as it is definitely the most convenient and economic way to travel to Barcelona. All buses have air conditioning and are adapted.
Some useful tips:
You will need some cash to buy your bus ticket, because they do not accept credit cards.
Make sure you have taken the right bus, because there are two Barcelona Buses operated by the same company¨Sagalés¨. One runs from Girona airport to Barcelona and vice versa and another – from Barcelona to Girona city centre.
