Hotel Me - for chic clubbing

The concept of arranging parties in Hotels began in the swanky hotels of New York and the idea has become very successful in other cities like London and Paris. Hotel ME can now boast some of the most elegant parties in Barcelona. There is something very distinct and special about going to a hotel and I wholeheartedly embrace these types of parties.
 
Hotel Me, voted one of Europe’s essential hotels by the travel magazine Conde Nast, started putting on parties in 2009. Now it has become one of the most stylish options for someone looking for a unique night out.

The hotel has 2 rooms available, the lobby and the 6th floor. The lobby is purposefully decorated in a minimalist style. There are numerous red and white sofas dotted around, and an oval shaped bar to the left of the lobby. Although there is nothing greatly elaborate adorning the space, there is a great sense of space and the word that springs to mind is “Chic.”

Every week end DJs play various styles of music and parties like Hotel Elegancy never fail to attract a good looking sophisticated party crowd. The idea of going to a hotel to party means the girls and boys dress up, make more of an effort and as a result everyone looks great.

The 6th floor has a more clubbing feel. As the elevator doors open, the music hits you and there is definitely a more clubbing feel. The whole room is dimly lit with little or no decoration. However, attached to the dance floor is a large open air terrace with a swimming pool which is a major attraction especially in the summer. A cool mix of locals and foreigners mingle outside drinking cocktails and some have even been seen jumping into the pool to the disapproval of the security guys, but  they are here to party and have a great time. 
 
The drinks prices are typically set for tourists. Having said that they are no more expensive than any of the popular clubs and bars in Barcelona. A beer will cost  6 euros, a cocktail up to 14 euros. The bar staff are extremely attentive and make some great cocktails, my favourite being their mojito. The hotel also has a restaurant situated next to the bar but I personally have not eaten there although I´ve heard the food is of good quality and not overpriced. 
 
The only problem I can foresee is that Hotel Me is not ideally located and there is not a lot of passing trade. You have to go to Hotel Me because you really want to and in my opinion it’s definitely worth a visit. The combination of stylish surroundings, great cocktails, a chic lobby and open air terrace forces me to give Hotel Me the thumbs up.

It’s a great place to go with your partner or with friends. The lobby gives you a great chance of meeting new people and the 6th floor has a great party atmosphere. It is worth checking first what parties are on offer and my tip is to go to the monthly Hotel Elegancy parties.
