Shoko is one of the finest lounge clubs in Barcelona. It always proves to be a good option whether you want to eat or just have a few drinks. I am a regular here and I have had some great nights there.
Red seems to be the overwhelming colour for this Oriental decorated Club/Restaurant. With Chinese Buddhas and Oriental umbrellas adorning the walls it’s not difficult to see where the inspiration for this lounge club came from. The club is extremely popular through-out the year and is the perfect place to start off your night.
Remember to dress well before you decide to go to this bar. Entrance is free however they do have a guest list and invitation policy so the security can easily use the excuse of guest list or invitation only if they do not like the way you are dressed. It is advisable to get invitations from the many promotion workers that are hanging around the area.
The club has a great terrace over-looking the beach, 3 bars and a restaurant. The restaurant is open from 9 A.M. to 1 A.M. and specializes in Mediterranean/Oriental fusion cuisine. One can order a Spanish starter, a Thai main dish and a Moroccan desert.
The service is in general fast and efficient. Booking a table and enjoying the restaurant is a good way to guarantee entry to the club. The club really gets going at 1 A.M. with the DJ situated in front of the dance floor. Normally by 2 A.M. the place is packed with everyone dancing to the various DJs who spin commercial dance and up front house music.
The bar staff are quite professional and service is good and they endeavour to serve drinks quickly in order to cope the high amount of thirsty customers. Each night has its own theme and Wednesdays are popular for their chocolate fondue and strawberry night.
It’s also a great place to chill after a hard day at the beach and sip a few cocktails and watch the sunset. The food prices are quite reasonable but drinks are a little expensive ranging from 8 Euros for a bottle of beer, 12 Euros for a long drink and 150 Euros for a bottle of champagne in the VIP area.
The atmosphere is a mixture of locals, ex-pats and tourists. There is a good vibe to the bar and plenty of flesh on show. However one must remember it’s not a 100% tourist club so any wild antics is not recommended and upsetting the locals will more than likely result in being ejected from the bar.
To conclude, Shoko has it all. It is located by the beach which is perfect while watching the sun set with a mojito in hand. It has a good restaurant and an interesting menu. The club is beautifully decorated and coupled with the great nightly events and good looking crowd, Shoko is a must during your visit to Barcelona.
