It’s a myth that Barcelona is warm and sunny all year long although its temperatures are milder than some of its European neighbors. Nevertheless, when the sun comes out in the summer city dwellers love hanging outdoors to enjoy a tropical cocktail. So that you can enjoy this favorite summer pastime, I have gathered a list of the best outdoor terrace bars throughout the city.
1. Mimosa Garden at The Mandarin Oriental – Newly opened in the winter of 2010 this luxury hotel has a best kept secret that not everyone knows about just yet- a green oasis in the center of Barcelona outfitted with comfy chaise lounges and tables large enough to seat a group of ten. The Mimosa Garden terrace bar and café is ideal place to escape the hustle and bustle of Paseo de Gracia for while. Here you will find a lengthy cocktail list as well as light menu suitable for lunch and early dinners.

2. La Isabela – This spot is actually a restaurant located on the rooftop of the boutique Hotel 1989 completed with a swimming pool and magnificent views of the city. Although it offers dining options this place is more popular with the after work crowd who comes to enjoy drinks while relaxing on the fluffy white sofas and listening to chilled out tunes.

3. 8 Terrace Bar – This intimate terrace bar with pool located in Hotel Granados 83 is the perfect setting for your first cocktail when beginning a night out on the town. If you come in the early evening light snacks or ‘’aperitivos’’ are available to stave off your appetite until dinner.

4. Visit Up – Every summer the Hotel Pulitzer opens up their roof terrace creating a cool outdoor lounge to sip drinks and listen to live music played by local musicians under the stars. 5. Claris Hotel La Terraza – This luxury 5-star hotel is located in the heart of Barcelona’s Exiample neighborhood and has a stunning terrace open for their guests and other visitors to the city. 6. Majestic Hotel Terrace – This is said to be the original luxury terrace bar in the city and is the go-to hotel for the rich and famous. Cozy sofas, cool cocktails and even a pool to take a plunge (reserved for guests only) adds to the spectacular views of Sagrada Familia and Tibidabo making this one of the chicest terrace bars in town.

7. La Terraza Brisa del Mar – On the edge of the Gothic Quarter is the Hotel Duquesa de Cardona, a quaint little boutique hotel reserved for visitors with discerning tastes. On the top floor of the hotel is a stellar bar/restaurant where you can catch some rays, snack on some tapas and enjoy the Mediterranean breeze with breathtaking views of the beautiful Barcelona harbor. Furthermore, during the summer months they host live jazz concerts every evening except Wednesday and Friday starting at 9:30pm.

8. Terrace of Hotel Condes - Just a little over a year old, the uber-cool Condes terrace bar is just as elegant and slick as the hotel it sits atop. With some of the best high-up views of the Sagrada Familia and La Pedrera coupled with romantic lighting and occasional live music make this spot a coveted bar for drinking outdoors.

Sunset Lounge Bar – Laid back sofas and comfortable seating along the length of the this bar area that wraps around 3 sides of the modern H10 Montcada Hotel makes this a great escape from the constant activity of central Barcelona. The views that stretch down to the sea are best enjoyed at nightfall when the lights come on decorating the city with a touch of sparkle.
